Hornbill Lodge – Kinabatangan River Itinerary
Duration: 3 Days / 2 Nights
Day 1 – Arrival & First River Cruise (D)
- Pick-up between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm from Sandakan hotels, Sandakan Airport, or the Sepilok area.
- Transfer by road to the Kinabatangan River (approx. 2–2.5 hours). Tip: have lunch beforehand or bring snacks.
- Check in and enjoy tea, coffee, and snacks at the riverside restaurant.
- 4:00 pm – River cruise (~2 hours): search for proboscis monkeys, long-tailed & pig-tailed macaques, silvered leaf monkeys, orangutans, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife.
- Return to the lodge for dinner.
- Included night walk with your guide.
Day 2 – Dawn Cruise, Jungle Walk & Afternoon Safari (B/L/D)
- Early dawn river cruise to watch the river come alive—great chances for hornbills and multiple primate species.
- Breakfast at the lodge.
- Jungle walk with your guide: look for orangutan nests and, with luck, orangutans.
- Lunch overlooking the river; rest time.
- Afternoon river cruise in search of more wildlife.
- Dinner at the lodge.
- Included night walk or optional night river cruise (add-on).
Optional add-on: Night river cruise – RM 100 per person.
Day 3 – Final Dawn Cruise & Departure (B)
- Early dawn river cruise, then breakfast.
- Scheduled transfer back to Sandakan Airport (for flights departing from 1:00 pm onwards) or to hotels in Sepilok / Sandakan.

- 2 nights accommodation at Hornbill Lodge
