Located near Lahad Datu, Tabin Wildlife Reserve is the largest wildlife reserve in Sabah, covering more than 300,000 acres of lowland rainforest. Established in 1984, Tabin was created to protect endangered species and is famous for its mud volcanoes, a natural salt lick that attracts an incredible variety of wildlife.
Tabin is home to rare and endangered animals such as Borneo pygmy elephants, banteng, orangutans, and more than 300 bird species. For nature lovers, birdwatchers, and wildlife photographers, it offers some of the best opportunities in Borneo to observe animals in their natural habitat. Visitors can join activities such as:
