Cooking Class with Itisha – Malay Recipes in Lahad Datu Sabah
Authentic Malay family recipes shared from Itisha’s kitchen
Cooking Class with Itisha
Step into the warm and welcoming kitchen of Itisha Ismail, the heart and soul of HAK’s Boutique B&B. Guests from around the world have long praised her dishes, lovingly prepared from recipes passed down by her late mother and grandmother. Rooted in the culinary traditions of Malacca, her cooking blends family heritage with the freshness of Sabah’s local ingredients.
For many years, guests encouraged Itisha to share her secrets through a cooking class. At first she hesitated – cooking was deeply personal, a family tradition she guarded closely. But over time, she realized that sharing these recipes was a way to keep them alive, to build connections, and to give guests a true taste of Malaysia.
In 2017, the Cooking Class with Itisha was born. Unlike a scripted course, every session is shaped by the day’s fresh produce: vibrant herbs and spices from Lahad Datu’s local market combined with seasonal harvests from our own Syntropic Farm. The menu changes with what nature provides – always authentic, always inspired.
More than just a cooking lesson, this is an immersion into Itisha’s family kitchen. You’ll cook together, taste together, and leave with the flavors of Malay heritage and the warmth of genuine hospitality.
