Utan Rainforest Lodge Itinerary (3D2N)
Day 1 – Lahad Datu to Utan Rainforest Lodge (L/D)
- Pick up from Lahad Datu airport and stop at office for check-in.
- 2.5-hour overland journey to Utan Rainforest Lodge, featuring 14 air-conditioned rooms within the Virgin Jungle Reserve of Sungai Kapur.
- Welcome briefing, lunch and check-in.
- Afternoon hike on the Kapur Trail.
- Late afternoon river cruise for wildlife encounters and estuary sunset. Weather permitting: firefly show on return.
- 7:00 pm – Dinner followed by a night safari drive to spot nocturnal wildlife.
Day 2 – Utan Rainforest Lodge (B/L/D)
- Wake to the sounds of gibbons and hornbills. Early morning hike with a stop at the Cuckoo Hide for bird photography.
- Breakfast at the lodge restaurant.
- Weather permitting: river cruise along the coastline into the Segama River and mangrove forest; look for flying foxes, eagles and dolphins.
- Return to lodge for lunch and leisure time – explore the gallery, shop, relax at the bar or enjoy the dip pool.
- Evening dinner followed by guided night walk to search for civets, leopard cats, mouse deer and other nocturnal species.
Day 3 – Utan Rainforest Lodge to Lahad Datu (B/L)
- Breakfast at the lodge.
- Free time at leisure before lunch and check-out.
- Overland transfer back to Lahad Datu in time for afternoon flight.
