Nanga Sumpa Longhouse Adventure

Duration: 3 Days / 2 Nights

Day 1 – Kuching to Nanga Sumpa (B/L/D)

  • Morning: 08:00 hrs hotel pick-up in Kuching and drive to Batang Ai Reservoir. Stop en route at Lachau Bazaar to explore the market and enjoy an early lunch in a local coffee shop.
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Batang Ai Lake around 13:30–14:00 hrs. Board a longboat for the upriver journey to Nanga Sumpa, arriving about 15:30 hrs depending on river conditions. Check in at the lodge.
  • Evening: Dinner and time at leisure in the rainforest setting.

Accommodation: Nanga Sumpa Lodge

Day 2 – Enseluai Waterfall & Longhouse Visit (B/L/D)

  • Morning: After breakfast, hike along jungle trails beside the river before travelling upriver by longboat to the scenic Enseluai Waterfall. Relax, swim, and enjoy the rainforest surroundings.
  • Afternoon: Riverside BBQ lunch prepared by your Iban hosts. Return to the lodge later in the day.
  • Evening: After dinner, visit Nanga Sumpa Longhouse. Spend time on the ruai (communal verandah), meet the Iban community, and sample traditional rice wine.

Accommodation: Nanga Sumpa Lodge

Day 3 – Nanga Sumpa to Kuching (B/L)

  • Morning: Breakfast at the lodge before departing at 08:30 hrs. Travel by longboat downriver to Batang Ai Lake jetty, arriving around 10:30–11:00 hrs.
  • Midday: Continue overland back to Kuching, stopping for lunch along the way.
  • Afternoon: Arrive in Kuching around 16:30 hrs and transfer to your hotel.

Travel Tip: Space in the boats is limited. Bring only a small overnight bag for this trip. Larger luggage can usually be stored at your hotel in Kuching.
